Description of content Exam 2 :(has been posted for a while)Exam 2 will cover material from Ch. 6,7,8,9. It is best to plan on the same timing as previously for the exam --

  • Radiative heat intensity, power, planck energy density formula and relation to intensity or power, relavance of Boltzmann statistics
    • Other radiative heat gain/loss-NET
  • Braking radiation, energy, wavelength, frequency, momentum initial and final,
    • Compton--energy, wavelength, various angles.
  • Photoelectric effect data
    • Select appropriate data
    • Determine Planck's constant (without extreme clutter please)
    • Work function (again without clutter)
    • Other data considerations
  • Beam of light-absorption-intensity-number of photons

   

And in the future I recommend getting ahead on the combined ch. 10, 11 single hw. This will likely be due The Wed. after the exam (March 25).
